The Civil Guard and Local Police seize three pistols from the suspects, who were traveling in a car stolen in France and had followed the 21-year-old victim.

The three Turkish citizens arrested last Sunday for the shooting death in Torrevieja of Canet Koçer, a 21-year-old compatriot who was one of the leaders of a rival gang, the Daltons, have been brought before the court in Torrevieja this Wednesday.

Given the danger posed by both the victim’s gang and the group linked to the detainees, known as the Caspers, the Civil Guard organized a heavy security deployment with officers from the Torrevieja barracks and the Citizen Security Unit (Usecic) of the Alicante Command, armed with assault rifles.

The judicial handover took place after the investigators from the Judicial Police Team of Torrevieja completed the corresponding police report.

The three detainees were assisted on Tuesday at the Civil Guard station by lawyers Alicia Grau, Alejandro Murcia, and Alba Herranz, from the law firm of Francisco Miguel Galiana Botella. All three exercised their right to remain silent during their statements to the Civil Guard. Two of them are being represented in court by the same legal team. The family of the murdered young man has also appeared to bring a private prosecution, represented by attorney Juan Antonio Espinosa.

Following the murder, the Civil Guard and Local Police in Torrevieja seized three firearms, including the one used to shoot Canet Koçer six times. One of the weapons was still carried by one of the suspects, while the other two were discarded during the escape. One was found the same Sunday, and the third was discovered Tuesday night by a citizen who alerted the authorities.

The Civil Guard suspects that the murder was a score-settling between two Turkish mafia groups. The victim had been staying with relatives at a hotel in Torrevieja but was alone at the time of the shooting, according to sources close to the case.

The events took place around seven in the evening last Sunday, when the 21-year-old was walking down a central street in Torrevieja and collapsed after being shot several times. Several patrols of the Civil Guard and Local Police arrived quickly and began a chase after the suspects, who fled in a car.

The agents led a high-risk pursuit that began by car and continued on foot, ending just minutes after the attack with the arrest of the three

alleged perpetrators. During the arrest, two firearms were seized: one had been thrown to the ground during the escape, and the other was found during a personal search of one of the detainees. A third pistol, believed to have been abandoned before the suspects were caught, was recovered last night thanks to public cooperation. It has been seized and included with the rest of the collected evidence.

While the suspects were being arrested, another patrol attempted to revive the victim, who lay on the ground after the shooting. Despite CPR efforts by two Civil Guard agents, continued by medical services upon arrival, the victim’s death was confirmed at 7:40 p.m.

The Civil Guard confirmed that the suspects were traveling in a vehicle stolen in France on July 27, with a duplicated license plate matching another similar car. Initial evidence suggests they followed the victim and, upon seeing an opportunity, shot him several times, killing him instantly. The suspects’ vehicle showed bullet holes from shots fired by the Local Police during the chase.

The Criminalistics Laboratory of the Alicante Command traveled to Torrevieja to conduct forensic inspections of the various crime scenes.

The suspects are three Turkish men, aged 23, 30, and 35, whose identities were confirmed thanks to cooperation from authorities in Germany, France, and the Netherlands. Additionally, the Civil Guard is working with the National Police’s UDYCO unit in Málaga to determine whether the detainees were involved in other events two weeks ago in that province, where a shooting occurred between two groups in the parking lot of a supermarket in Estepona.
