Internal Affairs accuses the policeman of revealing secrets for making inquiries of license plates for the organization, which paid for the escape of the Alicante couple for five months.

The case being investigated by the National Court for the shipment of 13 tons of cocaine imported through a company in El Campello and the dismantling of one of the largest drug trafficking networks that introduced numerous drug shipments into Spain with the alleged collaboration of a chief inspector of the the UDEF in Madrid has added another police official investigated in the case. The analysis of the telephone sets seized from the detainees and other investigations carried out by the Internal Affairs of the Police have revealed that an agent who works as an escort of the president of the Senate allegedly collaborated with a lieutenant of the head of the organization and provided him with data on license plates of vehicles that turned out to be camouflaged cars of the Central Narcotics Brigade of the National Police, which was already on the trail of this organization.

For this reason, Internal Affairs went to the Special Commissariat of the Senate at the beginning of June  and proceeded to take a statement as a non-detained suspect from the bodyguard of the president of the Upper House. The agent has been investigated for a crime of revealing secrets for having made queries in police databases on several vehicles. In his defense, he alleged that he did it on two occasions at the request of a friend he has known for two decades, from the gym, and that he thought he was not doing “anything wrong”,  that’s why he did not communicate it to his bosses, as stated in a report sent by Internal Affairs to the central court of Investigation number 1 of the National Court.

The friend of this Senate policeman, Eduardo M., is considered in the investigation as a lieutenant of the alleged leader of the organization, Ignacio T., and is a cousin of another of the alleged leaders of the network – “El Tigre” – who is on the run and is located in Dubai. According to the bodyguard, his friend told him that they had broken into his brother’s house in Fuente el Saz de Jarama (Madrid) and provided him with a license plate that could be related to the robbery. The second license plate was related to a problem with some kind of a woman, according to this Senate policeman.

Camouflaged cars

However, Internal Affairs states in a report that these license plates were not related to those cases and it was about camouflaged police cars. One of them was next to a warehouse owned by Eduardo M. in the Madrid municipality of Fuente el Saz de Jarama, where on July 23, 2024, a container imported by Abadix Fruits, the company from El Campello who months later managed the container in Algeciras where 13,062 kilos of cocaine were found. Although 1,605 kilos of cocaine were seized in this same warehouse in 2021 from the same organisation, the inspection carried out last year was negative and no cocaine was found. Nevertheless, the investigations revealed the alleged involvement of the agent of the Senate Police Station.

One of the license plates was found by the resident of El Campello accused in the case after he provided the information to the truck driver who carried the container. Also, this license plate was studied by the Senate police officer and also by the former head of the UDEF, accused of facilitating the massive introduction of containers contaminated with cocaine for at least five years.

As a result of this report, the judge has communicated it to the Prosecutor’s Office so that it can rule on the possible criminal responsibility of this policeman.

In addition to the report of Internal Affairs, the Central Narcotics Brigade has carried out another analysis of the tapped telephones. In this study it is concluded that the person considered to be one of the main ringleaders paid for the escape for five months of José Miguel B. C. and Vilma Janet A.B.,  the owners of the El Campello company that imported the container and turned themselves in to the Police last March. After being assisted by the lawyer Francisco Miguel Galiana Botella, the woman – administrator of Abadix Fruits – was provisionally released and her husband, who needs to go to dialysis three days a week, was granted an attenuated imprisonment in their luxurious villa in El Campello.

In one of the intercepted conversations, the considered head of the network tells Eduardo M. that he needs to “breathe” and affirms that, in addition to the money invested and lost of the 13-ton stash, he has spent tens of thousands of euros so that the couple from El Campello “does not talk” and does not turn themselves in to the Police. In the conversations it is pointed out that the couple fled to Portugal, where they were receiving dialysis in a private clinic, and they also refer to the valuable information provided by the former head of the UDEF following the seizure of the cache imported from El Campello: “The friend behaved well and told us everything before it happens”.

The investigation has also revealed that despite the seizure of the 13,000 kilos of drugs, the resident of El Campello wanted to “continue with the operation“, although the head of the network did not think it was a good idea. These conversations took place after the seizure of the drug in Algeciras and before the Police proceeded to the exploitation phase of the operation, with numerous arrests, including that of the former head of the UDEF in Madrid and his wife, also a policeman, from whom they seized just over 20 million in cash at their homes in Madrid and Dénia and in the professional office of the chief inspector.
