Six Arrested for Home Robberies in Seven Provinces Following an Investigation into Break-ins in Alicante

The Guardia Civil solves more than twenty robberies that caused economic losses exceeding 800,000 euros in less than one year.

An investigation launched by the Guardia Civil into break-ins at villas in Alicante has led to the dismantling of an itinerant gang of Albanian-origin thieves who looted homes and operated in at least seven provinces. The Guardia Civil states that, so far, it has solved more than 20 robberies committed between September 2025 and April 2026 in the provinces of Alicante, Córdoba, Granada, Jaén, Málaga, Murcia, Salamanca, and Valladolid. The economic losses suffered by the victims exceed 800,000 euros, according to the Alicante Command.

The operation, named “Cabeter,” concluded with the arrest in Ávila and Madrid of six individuals between 24 and 60 years of age, four of whom were remanded in custody after appearing before the judicial authorities, while the other two were released after appearing at Guardia Civil facilities.

The investigation began in September 2025 after a series of robberies in occupied homes, mainly villas, were detected in different towns in the province of Alicante, such as Mutxamel, Sant Joan d’Alacant, Alicante, and Cox.

From that moment on, investigators managed to identify an organized group operating itinerantly in different parts of the national territory.

The investigation made it possible to determine that the suspects, four of whom are represented by lawyers Francisco Miguel Galiana Botella and Alicia Grau Córdoba, operated in Alicante, Córdoba, Granada, Jaén, Málaga, Murcia, Salamanca, and Valladolid. The suspects traveled using high-end vehicles and adopted security measures to hinder their detection, including counter-surveillance maneuvers.

The group operated in a coordinated manner, with a clearly defined distribution of roles. Their main method consisted of gaining access to homes by climbing or forcing doors and windows using specialized tools. They also used systems to neutralize alarms and communication devices to coordinate the robberies. Among the items seized was various equipment used to test the purity of the precious metals in the jewelry they stole.

Search in Ávila

As part of the operation, a search was carried out at a residence in the town of Peguerinos (Ávila), where the four main suspects were arrested. Two additional suspects, a father and son, were arrested in Arroyomolinos (Madrid).

At the rural house used as the group’s residence in the municipality of Peguerinos, numerous items connected to the robberies were seized, including a high-end vehicle equipped with a system allowing rapid license plate changes and the use of false plates, as well as jewelry, watches, cash, and tools used in the commission of the crimes.

The detainees, six men between 24 and 60 years old, are accused of membership in a criminal group, burglary, and document forgery. Four of them were recently remanded in custody after appearing before the judicial authorities, while the other two were released subject to precautionary measures.

The operation was carried out by the Property Crimes Team of the Organic Unit of Judicial Police (UOPJ) of the Alicante Command and the Territorial Judicial Police Team (ETPJ) of Almoradí, with the collaboration of the Technical Judicial Police Unit (UTPJ) of the General Directorate, the UOPJ of Ávila, as well as other Guardia Civil units from different provinces.
