7,839,972 million euros sold per kilo. That is the estimated value of the 4,200 kilograms of hashish seized by the Civil Guard in the cove of La Granadella, in Xàbia, during the frustrated landing of a network of drug traffickers who intended to introduce the drug into this enclave, one of the most visited on the coast of Alicante due to its tourist attraction.

The operation, as reported by INFORMACIÓN, resulted in the intervention of the hashish cache and the arrest of three people, aged 38, 43 and 53, all of them Spanish and domiciled in different towns in Valencia and Ibiza. The three were handed over to the Dénia duty court, which decreed provisional detention without bail for all of them. In the same way, those arrested are charged with the crimes of drug trafficking, resistance and disobedience to agents of the authority and membership of a criminal group.

The arrested, defended by lawyers Francisco Miguel Galiana Botella, Roberto Sánchez Martínez and Bogdan Moisienko, dissociated themselves from the cache and two of them claimed that they were in the area to fish. Now, the Organized Crime Team (EDOA) of Alicante has managed to identify five others involved in the case, these four men being 20, 21, 40 and 52 years old, and a 46-year-old woman.

Escape through the mountains

After this identification, the Civil Guard has requested the Court of Instruction number 2 of Dénia, which directs and understands the case, to order his arrest. In fact, some of these new suspects managed to flee through the mountains and in a van after the agents burst into the cove in the early hours of last Tuesday.

Likewise, during the anti-drug operation, a narco-boat, four vehicles and 1,300 liters of gasoline, divided into 52 25-liter bottles, were also seized. The fuel was destined for the narco-boat of about fifteen meters in length that transported the drugs from the south of the peninsula. Two other smaller auxiliary inflatable boats participated in the disembarkation, one of them stolen, which was later located in a cove in Benitatxell, while the other two managed to flee by sea.

The operation was activated after the Complex Operational Center (COC) of the Command of the Civil Guard of Alicante detected, through the Integral System of External Surveillance (SIVE), a high-speed boat sailing towards La Granadella. Immediately, EDOA troops and patrols from the barracks of Xàbia, Moraira, Dénia and Pedreguer were mobilized to intercept it.

Hands-on

Shortly before four in the morning, three vans and a car arrived at the cove. Almost at the same time, three inflatable boats, one of them larger and loaded with burlap bales, reached the shore. The occupants began to unload the drugs and put the bales into the vans, at which point the Civil Guards burst in to thwart the landing of the hashish and dismantle the drug traffickers’ operation.

At that moment there was a stampede: the narco-boats fled out to sea, while some suspects escaped on foot through the mountains and others in a vehicle. Two vans with 105 bales of hashish, with a gross weight of about 4,200 kilos, valued at 7.8 million euros, were left at the scene.

After the operation, the Civil Guard managed to arrest three people, one in the cove itself and two others when they were fleeing in a car, while others involved managed to escape. Now, the EDOA of Alicante has identified five new suspects and has asked the court for their immediate arrest.
